Paula Zuccaro

Paula Zuccaro is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Adult Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist with an extensive educational and professional background. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1987 from Mount Marty College and furthered her education with a Master of Science in Nursing in 2006 from the University of Phoenix. Zuccaro also completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 1992 at the University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine, followed by the Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Program in 2008 at the same institution.
Zuccaro’s career includes a commendable 23 years of service with the Indian Health Service before her retirement. Throughout her career, she has gained diverse experience in mental health care, working in various settings such as inpatient and outpatient facilities, crisis care, jails, juvenile detention centers, eating disorder centers, and through telemedicine.
Her contributions to the field have been recognized and honored on multiple occasions. In 2006, she was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She received the Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence in 2010 and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Colorado Medical Detachment Army National Guard for her involvement with medical students during their mental health rotations. Zuccaro has also shared her expertise as a presenter at both the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, focusing on the subject of Telepsychiatry.
Born and raised on a family ranch in western South Dakota, Zuccaro cherishes her roots and enjoys spending quality time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Her personal interests include running, managing her quarter horse program, barrel racing, and traveling, reflecting her dynamic and multifaceted life.
